A romantic tale of two best friends falling slowly in love. You can tell from the start there is something more between these two best friends, but they are struggling to overcome their fears of losing their friendship.

Apr 09, Samantha Newnham rated it it was ok. Usually, I love a good friends to lovers trope. I love seeing the development when the friendship moves into a relationship. However this went from friends to them making out in the first 3 pages of the book. That plus the combination of a woman that always dates the wrong guy and guy that can't do commitment made this for a very average read. Alexander delivers a wonderful friends to lovers romance in this story, which had me laughing at the incident that could lead to things becoming awkward between Grant Phillips and Stacey Winters have been best friends for years, but when Stacey accidentally crosses the friend zone, things begin to change for the better between them. Alexander delivers a wonderful friends to lovers romance in this story, which had me laughing at the incident that could lead to things becoming awkward between them. Yet, instead, it leads to the best thing to happen to the pair when it comes to relationships since the heroine has a habit of picking men that end up being cheaters or deadbeats.

Will Stacey finally land herself the man that's always been there for her and a man that will love her like she deserves to be loved? As for the dialogue, it was entertaining due to these two being best friends and knowing each other so well. I also liked what they call their usual Tuesday get together. That had me laughing because both seem like they're grounded and have very good lives, considering all that they've been through with what the hero's mother did to him that's led to his abandonment issues and desire to stay away from anything to do with relationships and happy ever after.

Moreover, the heroine is resilient, brave and I liked that she took a chance on Grant, even knowing that he doesn't do relationships. Yet, in saying that, she's always been there for him, so why would he ever think that would change? Since it's palpable that he's afraid that she'll leave him just like everyone else has. While the hero, he's been through tough times as a kid who went through the foster system and I could understand why he'd be worried in entering a relationship and then having that person leave.

I also liked the close relationship the hero shares with his brother because Grant seriously needs the sound advice Aiden gives him if he's going to finally conquer his demons and get the girl. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was how protective he was of the heroine and that he wasn't afraid to tell her things that might hurt her, which is proven by what he does for her at the start of this story. Overall, Ms. Alexander has penned a really good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was instantaneous from the moment of the incident and gets stronger as this story progresses; the romance was hot and had me liking that these two finally gave in to their feelings for each other; and the ending had me loving what Grant does to win back the heroine after their relationship goes awry.

Definitely he gets an A for effort, especially with his smooth talking. Then again, can I just say -- gift cards.

That made me laugh. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely because of the surprise the hero has for the heroine that showed he was ready for forever with her. May 29, Julie rated it liked it Shelves: my-blog , kindle-ebooks-i-have-read , reviewed-for-readingcafe. Will she want to lose her best friend if they take it too far? Can you truly be just friends with benefits? Will jealousy rear its ugly head?

What happens if someone wants more? There are a few funny moments, and the story was well written, but for me, something was missing. Mar 25, Leah rated it really liked it Shelves: romance. Melia Alexander gives us her take on the classic best friends romance story. In this book she answers the question of what would happen if two friends fell in love. What if this was completely unexpected and kicked off by a chance incident? What if one of the friends was commitment phobic? She heads home for a night with her newest boyfriend.

Imagine her Melia Alexander gives us her take on the classic best friends romance story. Imagine her surprise when the man waiting for her in bed was her best friend, Grant Phillips, and not her boyfriend. Stacey has no idea what to think about her feelings after kissing Grant.

Grant is shocked when he wakes up to find Stacey kissing him and now he has to confront feelings he never knew he had. Grant has been bounced around foster homes most of his life. He has known Stacey since he was eight years old and will do nothing to jeopardize their friendship. Grant has always said that marriage and long-term relationships were not in the cards for him. She wants all that comes with that. How these two reconcile their different views on relationships without trashing their lifelong friendship makes for a compelling story.

I really enjoyed this story and found it to be a quick read. It moves along nicely without any stalling or drawing things out. We understand both Stacey and Grant and root for them to figure things out. There are also a number of compelling side characters who add to the romance of the story with their takes on the relationship between Stacey and Grant. Mar 28, Sara rated it liked it Shelves: arc-other , read-in , reviewed , own.

Stacey is in love with love and looking for it in all the wrong places. There's always been something wrong with each guy she's dated -- they're boring, they're lazy, they're cheaters -- but she's optimistic about this last one.

Romance (love)

When she finds him asleep in her bed one night, she sneaks in next to him and wakes him up with a kiss. The kiss is amazing, but it's not her boyfriend in her bed. It's her best friend, Grant, a commitment-phobe who she most certainly isn't interested in like that This is a really quick read! I read it in about an hour and a half and it wasn't bad, but it's not my favorite Entangled book. It's the second in a series and I would definitely recommend reading Driven to Temptation first since I felt like I was missing something.

Grant and Stacey were cute and their friendship was very sweet, but I didn't really feel like I knew them. I'm assuming that this was established more in the previous book and that's why it wasn't a focus here. I was also a little put off by the excessive drama in establishing the relationship. Grant and Stacey had already made out within the first few pages of the book, so I wasn't clear on why they were so worried about "ruining the friendship" by exploring their attraction. The damage is done! Putting a label on it isn't going to change anything. Overall, this is a cute story but it doesn't have a ton of depth.

I think it would be good for a beach read -- something light and fluffy that you don't really have to devote a lot of attention to. I received a free copy of The Best Friend Incident from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. Thank you! Apr 08, Sionna rated it liked it Shelves: contemporary , sexy-times , new-adult , romance , netgalley. I enjoyed reading it. It is simple and fast to read featuring cute characters. It just So, this is something I know doesn't bother people, but for me it makes the book feel shallow and not as fulfilling. I like learning about the characters, who they are apart from one another, but here most of the scenes are either together, or they are thinking about each other.

I just wanted more from them. Also, I thought the way the romance went, wasn't super fun to follow along. Even though they are best friends, it is pretty such insta-love in this book and I thought the conflict was kinda meh -- although I might just be tired of that type of problem and misunderstanding. I will say my favorite part of this book is the relationship, or the way Grant and Stacey act with one another. They are super respectful of each other and the boundaries they've made. Grant continuously makes sure Stacey is comfortable with what they are doing and WOW.

Seriously, besides his commitment issues, this is an example of how people can act respectful and healthy in a relationship. Mar 29, Fizza rated it really liked it. It's a sweet, lighthearted; a perfect rom com. I loved it! This is my favorite kind of romance, where two best friends who are unable to find love finally find it with each other. Stacey and Grant have been friends since they were kids. Stacey believes in romance, love, happily-ever-afters, and everything that should come with it.

She wants a perfect guy and a perfect love story of her own. Grant, on the other hand, hates commitment. His belief is that people leave you sooner or later so better It's a sweet, lighthearted; a perfect rom com. His belief is that people leave you sooner or later so better not hope for ever-afters.

They don't exist anyway. But soon they both realize that life is a mixture of good and bad, and the only way you can make it work is if you compromise a little and give others a chance. I loved both Stacey and Grant, they are perfect for each other and their story is quite entertaining. I enjoyed reading it and would definitely recommend to romance fans; don't be a cynic, just give it a try. I received complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley. Mar 21, Melena Torretta rated it really liked it Shelves: netgalley-arcs , Stacey and Grant have been best friends since they were in grade school, but an accidental romantic encounter opens up the possibility for them to become more.

Stacey is looking for her happily ever after, though. She isn't sure Grant and his commitment issues will be able to fit into that role in her life, and Grant is scared of the possibility he could lose Stacey if a relationship doesn't work out. I liked the back story that helped explain Grant's views on relationships, and that you can clear Stacey and Grant have been best friends since they were in grade school, but an accidental romantic encounter opens up the possibility for them to become more.

I liked the back story that helped explain Grant's views on relationships, and that you can clearly see how important his friendship with Stacey is.

  • Also, it was nice that Stacey's business factored in and played a big part in the story. It really kept her from being a one dimensional character.. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for an honest review. Apr 09, Heather rated it liked it. The Best Friend incident is a quick and easy read that was entertaining from start to finish. I enjoyed the interplay between Grant and Stacey, and their chemistry was great, even if they were both totally clueless when it came to their relationship. Both Grant and Stacey were great characters, and I liked them both The epilogue was my favorite part and made this story so much better.

The only thing I didn't enjoy about this book were the amount of things that were left without a real conclusion. What about Grant's missing brother who was hinted at but who never came into play? Same went for Grant's job — we meet Patrick and get tons of unimportant details about Grant's job but after growls at Grant, that whole plot line is just ignored.

But the worst, to me, was Julian. Julian's issue being vague to avoid major spoilers being used as a cheap plot device and then just totally forgotten as if he didn't matter was just terrible. If an author is going to use that particular situation to further a story line, at least give the readers some closure on that. Even though it was a little bit frustrating at times, it had some fun parts and I'm glad that I read it. If you're looking for a light, sexy, and easy read this book fits that bill. Apr 08, Ofelia rated it really liked it. Stacey and Grant are best friends who than turned into lovers.

They might not have started hooking up in the hopes of starting a relationship but after one kiss they could not stop the feelings that were let loose. Grant has commitment issues and Stacey is looking for a HEA so both were very hesitant going into their friends with benefits arrangement but one taste and they both start to realize that their is no better relationship then being in love with your best friend.

A must read!!!! Mar 27, Shea rated it really liked it. I am big fan of the friends to lovers trope so I knew I would like this book. I liked the main characters and the rapport they share and I felt like their doubts and hesitation about changing their relationship felt like a natural conflict. I loved the side characters Julian and Martha who offered their wisdom and guidance and I found myself wanting to know more about their love story. I didn't realize this was a part of a series so clearly this story works as a standalone.

I really liked this book. I'll just put it like that. I nearly always love Entangled's books, and this was no exception.

This book truly had heart and I freely admit that I cried in nearly all the scenes with Julian and Martha in it. The whole best friend romance was really sweet. Great job to Melia Alexander and to Entangled! Apr 01, Heather rated it it was amazing. This is a sweet friends to lovers romance. The two main characters, Stacey and Grant, were great together. I loved that they were honest with one another and that they acted like adults.

Too often stories get bogged down in the melodrama of misunderstandings, but this story stayed realistic. It just made it all the better. I loved how they supported and encouraged each other, and the little things they did for one another were so sweet. I definitely recommend this one. Apr 05, Becky Rendon rated it liked it.
