Of course nothing is a coincidence in the world of literary fiction. As she enters the dining area her eyes lock with his and she knows immediately that he not only knew it would be her who walked in but that he requested her. Caden is currently running for the political seat now occupied by Desniah's father.

Five years ago Caden accepted a job in Hong Kong not knowing that the decision would cause his best friend and love of his life to completely shut him out. I'd let so many nameless, faceless women try to sooth me. He's back now and he wants Desniah to be his. First he needs to know the truth. London Brown, when neither will willingly provide facts… I bide my time, playing the politician while I unravel secrets, and peel back the layers between us. I chase an elusive dream, one I've yet to abandon, a life with her. They once shared a kiss many months back.

Rhys can easily distinguish between Desniah and London. And he is in love with Desniah. Other men got London. That all changes though when these two have sex. They decide to attend a party together as a couple. And in their minds them as a couple is a fake a show put on for others. Rhys is not faking one bit he wants Desniah. Rhys harbors secrets and desires that are slowly revealed to Desniah. He fears she will hate him and find him disgusting for his dark desires.

Rhys is the only male Desniah has ever let in. She suffered tragedies in her life at a very young age and because of it she is Both Rhys and Desniah find comfort in one another. And Caden, Well let's just say if he finally gets the answers he seeks he'll never be the same. Thoughts Wow! I loved this book. When I first started I remember thinking "what the fuck did I get myself in to? And I find when I ask myself that it's often turns out to be a good thing. That statement causes me to hold on tight to my knickers because the ride on the rode that I travel will be treacherous.

This book had me on the edge of my seat unsure where and how it will end. And then BAM. I was left hanging. Now awaiting the next Volume of books. And I love this aspect. In three scenes the switch happened right before the readers eyes. Two of those times it was around Rhys and he went right with the flow. He can tell the two apart just by the posture of either Desniah or London. It was amazing to read it was literally like a movie playing in my head. I love Rhys attitude towards London he knows she can't be trusted.

I would have to agree with him by what I read. London is a loose cannon. And you cannot trust a loose cannon. I think the author has a very unique tale by way of confessions. I enjoyed the cast of characters each unique. Rhys- I especially like Rhys his character is pitch black. He is in a constant battle to fight the darkness that consumes him.

He is a true sadist and it's very scary. I'm not sure if Desniah is truly aware of what she is in for. London- Is Desniah's alter ego. London is a true masochist. The way she was born into exsistence is beyond horrible. She feeds off pain and desires it unlike no other I have ever seen. She claims to be protecting Desniah But I'm not sure how true that is.

London is a loose cannon and she seeks to feed her masochistic desires no matter what. Desniah Hmmm. I definitely think Des has a masochistic side of her, she needs to be controlled that's for sure. I think that is part of the reason London is around. Caden- The little I know about him says that he is indeed in love with Desniah.

But in all honesty I doubt he can keep her content. He hates what she does and hates that she craves the things that are done to her as London. I really want to know how he knew about London and to contact 'The Agency. Like NOW! Dear Readers Bring on the Hedonism! I recommend this book to those who can handle dark edgy reads, this book is not for the faint of heart.

It deals with rape, cutting and hardcore BDSM theme's. I highly recommend! Now go forth and read. Then come tell us about it on Goodreads!!! View all 51 comments. Get it while you can. Everyone knows how I love dark books. Depending on who's confessions you are reading it gets dark.

My mind is still boggling around with these characters. There is strong BDSM limits. This is a exceptional great story. The Author really took me to the next level in this book, Something that I was really looking forward to. London Brown The whore's introduction: If you are joining me for the first time read on otherwise pick up at the date. I am London Brown, alter ego of Desniah Williams, a twenty-six-year-old, affluent, educated, black woman, employed by The Agency.

The Agency provides pricy escorts for London's elite. It's a sophisticated operation in the oldest profession. Clients peruse a catalogue to choose a service provider. I'm contacted via a white envelop slipped under my door. Since I became a service provider, not once have I seen an envelope delivery. I have a theory about why, but honestly, it sounds absolutely ridiculous, so I refuse to elaborate.

These are the confessions of a whore. My confessions. London and Desniah are the same person. London is the alter ego of Desniah. At first I thought I was going to get confused who's head I was in. But to my amazement Leila DeSint had the alter ego down perfectly. London has no limits. She does what she wants and when she wants. She does not have to answer to no one.

Does not expect it to be Cade. Desniah former boyfriend who left her 5 years ago, due to a job opportunity. Caden Jacob Carrington V the Fifth. The Politician. He loves Desniah still after all these years. Beats himself up for leaving her 5 years ago. But thought that she would still be there when he came back.

Was not expecting London Alter ego. He wants to get Desniah back and will not stop at nothing. I quite liked Cade. But I was torn between who I liked the most. His love for Desniah is so strong. But for some reason I do want them together but, I don't. Too much past and broken all together to even try that. Or at least that is what I am thinking. Rhys These are the confessions of a philanthropist Bastard son of a Whore. Rhys is Desniah's best friend. She trusts him, he does not judge her. But also he has strong feelings for her for the longest time. He wants Desniah not London.

He will not stop until he has Desniah all of her. One could choose London's body or Desniah the friend, but never shall they cross. Last but not least Desniah London commands her weight in gold. Do you still wonder why I can't stand to be me? These are the confessions of a daughter.

Desniah is simply broken. Everything about her is broken. Things happened in the past just makes it so unbearable that you can not blame her what so ever. But she blames her self. I am rooting for Desniah through the whole entire book. You want her to be stronger. I just want London to kick ass gone down the street and keep Desniah, damaged soul and want her to heal. I can not wait to read more of this character.

She is getting stronger I can tell. But London is pushing her way through. To the Author Leila DeSint. I can not wait to read the next book. The characters are still wrapped up in my head that the next book better be strong to keep my head out of these characters.

Great job!! I was provided a copy of this book by the Author exchanged for a honest review. View all 17 comments. Contest ends February A copy of this book was kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. So if I would show you my reaction after reading this book, it would look exacly like this guy on the gif: Notice the smile after? Yes, that too. It's just that this book was so DAMN messed up but it was amazing and I'm: When I read the description of the book, it kind of sounded a little too dramatic. And here were these four people and it doesn't look like they have things in common.

And I thought: Okay, we'll probably have two couples: the whore and the politician, the philanthropist and the daughter. Looks like it might be interesting. But why two couples? What is their connection? And then I opened this book Forget the summary! Don't even read it. And scratch the two couples thing.

This shit is ten times much better! This book deals with split personality. London Brown and Desniah Williams are a dangerous fire and they are between two men who are trying to get their girl. London Brown: "This was what my body had been made for—pain and pleasure. I loved what I did. I was a dirty whore. Two men whose faces I'd never seen were using me and every inch responded to them. My pussy dripped from the pleasure. She's a whore. She works for The Agency dumb name btw and they send her cards with instruction what to wear and where to go for an assignment. She's not the type of whore that does it for survival.

Audiobook Narrator Louise Cooksey Narrates DARK DESIRES by Marissa Scott

She's expensive, very professional and likes her job. She has 35 clients and fulfills their every desire. It made them feel like I wanted them. I didn't really care who was fucking me as long as someone did. I fucked strange men and got off on it. That couldn't possibly be normal. But it got me really intrigued why, why does she do it and why does she enjoy it? What made her such a masochist? Especially - why the fuck does she have a split personality? Later on, we learn that London didn't create Desniah, it's the other way around. In the beginning of the book, London gets an invitation and the man that requested her is: Caden Jacob Carrington V Caden is a man that I was very wary about through the whole book.

He's been in Hong Kong for five years and he's back now to get his best friend back - Desniah. But he finds the once quiet, nice girl is now an escort. But she was still my Des--the little girl from across the street. She's changed. And it's all because you made that happen. Desniah was in love with Caden, but she had some problems and couldn't let Caden in even though he loved her too.

Not the childhood affection we once had. Our souls were linked. We travelled to Athens, Greece together. But she could never stand to let me touch her when my passion was evident. Afraid and insecure, I questioned if she wanted me. An opportunity for me to work abroad came up I had hoped time apart would help her figure out what she wanted. That decision was an error in strength and judgment. But he has a rival. I might never find another. Yet, she was beyond my reach. He hates the world of East Finchley and its rich pretending bastards.

At first, I liked him very much. He seemed like the really nice guy that lives by his own rules and is trying to get the only woman that understands him. But then: Rhys is a true sadist. I'd prayed for the urges to stop. But my dark fascination only grew. My first reaction was: 'aw hell, this gets even more sick' and 'this makes little sense'.

But what intrigued me with Rhys is that whole personality and his fight with his darkness. Rhys never acted on his wants, he always resists them, hating how horrible it makes him. He hates the monster in him and the fights him strong. After all, I am a monster. Sex with her had been near normal. As ordinary as we could be. Desniah Williams Actually she understood it all, understood him. Rhys:"I wouldn't lie to her. Even if learning the truth about me risked her being repulsed by me. I'd carried the shame alone so long. I wanted her to help me understand. Not objectified—desired, cared for--but not on a pedestal.

Our encounter was part me relinquishing control and him accepting the commanding role. She was a weak person, but now with Rhys' help she starts to resist London. I don't really get how those two change between each-other and I hope author explores it more later. She once loved Caden, but was broken when he left. I can't even believe how she could love him for certain reasons but she did. And now she's just scared. She found safety in Rhys' arms as much as he found it in hers.

The thing is: These people are fucked up beyond belief. And their fucked-up-ness is so fascinating. The book is an exploration of human mind AND human sexuality. That's the whole point.

And I love it! I love these types of books. It's not one of those: "lets write about messed-up people that fall in love". No, this book is about the effects of abuse, about the people who experience abuse and how they cope or don't cope with it and how is affects the people they love. It's about friendship and how it can lead to love with mutual trust and acceptance.

Acceptance being the key word. Because it's hard to love a person like these are. Furthermore, it's a book about how family and how those you trust can hurt you and scar you, about secrets and their burden. And finally it's a study about split personality. And THAT shit is no simple thing. Oh, and the hot parts were really amazing. I dare say that I liked it with Caden too even though he acted like a crazed man. It was the first time I encountered breath play. It sounds exciting but I don't like it. Anyway, the hotness was pretty much secondary to me. As much as I love this book, there are things I didn't understand besides things that are not yet explained because this is just the beginning: how the hell aren't Rhys and Caden so shocked about Desniah developing another personality.

They act like it's the most normal thing, they're not doing anything about it! They just accepted it without asking any questions! It really bothers me. Also, I wonder how Caden never got a clue about the things that were done to Desniah, it's just too much to believe. The second episode. I felt pure disgust. But I get it that the author wrote it to show us just who is London. And how come Desniah accepted Rhys and his sadistic side so easily?

Especially since she was abused. I don't really buy it how suddenly she liked breath play and wasn't scared of the BDSM stuff. The fact that this book is so short and is divided in 9 parts of 15 pages may look too complicated and unreasonable but it didn't bother me. It was written in first person and that too didn't bother me.

These are confessions - like a diary. And it should be in the first person. Lastly, I want to say: I am in love with this author. Because this book is not just about how fucked-up people can be. It's a book that drips with intelligence. Not everyone can write about people with split personalities AND about two men with a complex life of their own who are so different from each other too. Seriously, I can't even imagine how difficult it was to pull this off. Most of authors write about two people but Leila DeSint dared to write about 4.

Because it could have been too much, especially for a book of episodes that are so short, but it's all balanced and it makes me admire the author so much. All in all, London was a whore that now suddenly began to develop feeling for Caden. At least I think. I think he now wants London more. But boy, oh boy, when he finds out about the abuse. Rhys and Desniah find comfort and satisfaction in them self and I hope they end up together.

But I feel there is still much to come I can't wait for moreeeeeee!!!! And I really recommend this book to all those of you that find everything I talked about interesting, and even if you don't, give this book a chance because it's different and definitely not your ordinary book. View all 8 comments. Especially if you're an old shoe to the explicit flavors of forbidden narratives. This is a psychological suspense first, an erotic romance last. The sex scenes are indeed tantalizing, but it's the execution of events that is passionately more clever and creative than most of what passes as BDSM Romance these days.

It doesn't use and abuse BDSM lingo and cliches. Rather, it accentuates the emotional aspects of the lifestyle in a subtle application. Not only is this better than the best-sellers in the genre, it is a hundred stars better. London Brown is significantly more sinister, and has earned a heart and balls to rival The Original Sinners' great Mistress. Watch your back, Nora Sutherland. Brazen in its construction, this story could very easily have degenerated into a melodramatic soap opera, but it remains deep-rooted, quietly serious, and thought-provoking throughout.

I found myself doubled over my lap, gripping my kindle, and rocking with nervousness, mostly for Rhys and his beautiful, deranged, selfless heart. I swooned from the moment he entered the story, and by the final page he'd become one of my favorite all-time book heroes. What will happen to him in the next book? I'm both terrified and hopeful.

It's hard not to read this book with a coiled apprehension, but LD's greatest feat may be in her compelling depths of POVs. The four main characters' viewpoints remind you that the heroine is under construction. As she evolves she is braced--and often crushed--by people who love her, despite her mental state, her profession, and her secrets. You'll feel the battle of her dual personalities in the catch of your breath. The ending comes at you like a sharp prick, and not as an injected point of drama, but because you've come to deeply care for this woman.

As a disturbingly erotic and moving story, it deserves all the attention it can get. Artfully well-written, it digs deep enough to unearth the characters in full flesh and psyche as they navigate a twisty, looming plot. Profound, sexy and intelligent, this is a must-read for dark psychological erotica readers. I cannot describe all of the ways that this was just messed up. The characters are totally cray cray.

The concept is dark and deals with a disturbing issue, molestation and how it can effect someone years later. The sex is dark, out there and hot. She has two men in her life and I cannot choose who is better for her, they are both equally fucked up. I finished it shaking my head saying damn what a ride! I will definately read more but I have to have a break in between to keep my sanity.

View all 4 comments. I devoured this book, couldn't get enough! Although there's a slight cliff hanger at the end, I can't WAIT to get my hands on the next set of chapters! I feel out of my element trying to review this book, it was quite complex, but here it goes From these continuous, terrible, horrific, unimaginable events She allows men to use her for sex but she enjoys it, she's good at it, but most importantly it's because she's always in control.

Over the last five years, while London has been employed with The Agency, Des discovers another side of her, one she didn't really know existed Her mind has produced London as a defense mechanism, a way for her mind to cope with the physical connection that she makes with men. Des doesnt know how to accept a man's touch, she's terrified of making that connection.

Her and London are complete opposites and only one man knows about both, her best friend of many years Meet Rhys Christos Edward Stowell, a philanthropist: He's been her friend, her confidant, her savior, but he's harbouring dark desires. He has specific tastes, which has led him to remain a virgin, because he can't act on them.

He knows what turns him on and excites him, but it's dark and dangerous. Fortunately for him, Des has confided her dark desires also Caden and Des have a history, a confusing history, but one none the less. He's loved her almost his whole life. She loved him once and he broke her heart. She has secrets, ones that will most likely destroy him, but he keeps pushing to see her.

Upon hearing of her profession, he hires London for a 'session', to try and reconnect. Unforunately, she's beyond repair and he has no idea what he's getting himself into.

Reluctance

He fights hard to break down her walls, to get through to Des, but there's one problem London won't let him in. This twisted tail of Des, London, Rhys, and Caden is a mind-fuck. She's caught between her two personalities. One man accepts her the way she is and brings out the side of Des that she once thought was gone. The other man has settled for London only because Des is unavailable to him emotionally but wants desperately to get back the woman he loved.

I'm no genius but I know that neither of these relationships are healthy. But who do you trust? Who do you love? How do you balance two personalities? Not even the shrink knows what's best for her! So what side of her will ultimately prevail I would definetly recommend this book for anyone who loves dark books. The subject matter is sensitive and the Confessions from London are very provocative View all 5 comments.

Oh how I enjoyed this book! It's filled with lies, cover-ups, betrayal, grief, heartbreak, breakdowns, and more. This is the story of a soul torn apart. Desniah Williams was a bright and beautiful fun girl. She grew up in a wealthy and prominent family and never wanted for anything except maybe the attention of her adopted father. Her life changed when her best friend's father Caden Currington 4th took advantage of her over the course of several year and continued to until caught by his wife.

It was after these events that with Mr. Carrington that Desniah began to withdraw from life, from her best friend Caden Currington 5th.

Caden has falling for Desniah and wants to be with her but doesn't understand her negative response to him. Things only get worse when she learns that he's leaving her and going overseas to train for the family business. This particular event sets in motion the end of a long friendship and the creation of London Brown. When Caden leaves Desniah has a breakdown. Realizing her continued downward spiral London Brown is created to maintain her sanity, to fight the pain that she's endured throughout the years.

Our latest Narratively story isn't available online - we printed the entire thing on a tote bag!

London Brown is sexy, strong, self confident and enjoys being a whore. She teases men with her sexuality and prides herself on being able to wrap them around her finger. Working with an exclusive call girl 'Agency' and high-end clientele, she sells here body to the highest bidder. Desniah has finally found -after years of searching- her own sense of normal where she can live her life while Lodon deals with the heavy stuff, that is until Caden comes back. When Caden requests an audience with Lodon and explains he'll do anything to repair what they had and to get her back, he doesn't realize the extent of what his presence is doing Desniah.

Little does he know that while he's professing his love and apologizing for the past, he's pushing Desniah into the arms of her new best friend, Rhys Stowell. Caden wants Desniah but can only really reach London. Rhys wants Desniah, and they really make a good match because of their friendship, but his dark needs are probably better meant for London. Who will end up together? Oh the drama. The Best Thing: When I read the synopsis for this story I didn't get that it would involve a character with multiple personalities.

I thought I'd be reading about four physically separate characters, but I loved the twist. While at times I was a little confused and not one hundred percent sold on the multiple personality, I did find the storyline very intriguing. I really enjoyed how every other chapter gave a different view point between the characters. I'm torn between loving Caden the 5th and loving Rhys. While one seems like the golden boy the other is really messed up but seems to be able to give Desniah what she needs.

They both love her in their own way but I can't see this working out for anyone- someone's bound to be devastated- thus adding and waiting for a really great climax. The Worse Thing: Maybe it was me but I wasn't sold on Desniah and London having completely different experiences when one took over. It wasn't until London slept with Caden and told Rhys that I began to believe the difference and how separate they are.

When does Desniah take over, is she capable of controlling Lodon or vice versa?

When the thought of picking up another book feels like cheating? This is officially my favorite book of so far. Right up there with my favorite book ever! Desniah was abused as a child and to protect herself from her past, she created her alter ego London.

London sells her body, not because she needs the money, but because she wants the pain and the humiliation to dim the memory of the past. Unfortunately her past, in the name of Caden Jacob Carrington the Fifth, shows up as one of her clients. See Desniah was in love with Caden but London needs to forget him or drudge up a history… a secret, that is better left buried. By the time he realized that Desniah had shut him out, it was too late. The only thing I could, I continued to try to repair my mistake.

Caden knows that two personalities are in play; Desniah and London. Rhys Confessions of a Philanthropist Rhys Christos Edward Stowell completes this love triangle… or should we call it a square? He is the rebellious son of a church elder and in love with Desniah. He however has his sexual predilections, as dark as they come. He works hard to keep that from Desniah, as it could mean losing her forever. That was how she worked. What an incredible book! I loved Rhys and I loved Caden because they both loved Desniah so so much. And of course there was angst in bucketfuls… Rhys suppressing his predilections to be able to be with Desniah, Cade looking for forgiveness from both Desniah and London… both having their share of the same woman but wanting it all… such a delicious mind fuck.

I just loved how the author could almost make you believe that Desniah and London were two people. Over the top, but I went along with it. We did share this body. There were also instances where you could see her personalities changing right in front of you. If you love dark erotica with elements of psycho thriller and erotic romance, you HAVE to read this one. They still are! This story is so messed-up I don't even know what to tell You. Well, first of all this is for adults only. So if you're a youngster still, go read Harry Potter or something.

This is some heavy stuff! When I started to read it, i thought maybe this will be something like by Paulo Coelho. I loved that book. And it was about a prostitute. This book however is not about a prostitute, who struggles with life, this book is about a whore. You heard read me right. Not that I'm complaining. My masochistic side was very pleased by my choice to read this book, so all is well. Back to the book. I don't know what to say.. This was different. Not bad different, it was just not your everyday erotic novel.

It's packing some heavy stuff. Like child-abuse and what's happening to people after that. Some parts of this book made me feels very very dirty, and not in a good way. There's just so much reality, that we already know - sucks. I felt sorry and respect for Des,our heroine, so many times I can't even decide what do I feel for her now. But one thing is for sure. Books with BDSM always makes me wonder. I'm very eager to learn new things, so it's interesting for me - how people can totally submit to another.

Depend so much on the other person. I think they're really brave or stupid , I couldn't do that. Shibari, according to Kinkly , is a traditional form of artistic rope bondage that originated in Japan. Thin pieces of rope are used to create intricate geometric patterns and shapes … more recently, the term Shibari has become a common term throughout the world to describe the intricate rope bondage practiced in BDSM play. Shibari is often considered a power exchange between people through the use of rope. Folks who participate in Shibari may use different textured ropes, chains, etc.

Knots and ties can be placed along pressure points, almost like a Shiatsu massage. For some folks it may mean using added tools or resources, such as using a pillow to prop the subs , the homie being tied up , so that they feel as relaxed and as comfortable as possible. Or consistent check-ins with folks who live with asthma, anxiety, and panic attacks, or other disabilities. To add, Shibari is also about the person that ties the rope the Dom , be sure that they have access water as needed, is communicative with the sub and checking in. Any way that you frame it, however, most people do not consider that folks with disabilities can even participate in BDSM, not to mention disabled folks of Color.

So for me, applying Shibari to my methods of healing is a way to reclaim relationship with my body and mind. As a disabled queer person of color, with Native and Caribbean descent, reclamation of my body, my mind and sexuality is an act of revolution. Living daily with symptoms of Bipolar II Disorder is extremely difficult at times, often making me feel like I must be as social and productive as possible whilst I feel well today, otherwise tomorrow can escape me, depending on flare ups.

For different folks, symptoms of Bipolar Disorder II vary. Healing through Shibari not only allows for me to decide what coping with hypomania looks like, it also allows for me to break the exclusive and racist undertones of the BDSM scene. Reclaiming the understanding that healing takes time and undoing generations of trauma also means remembering that I carry 7 generations of beauty and resilience. So when I feel ropes and knots around my body, as loose or tight as I want them, this means I can define the emotions I want to come up in that scene.

Hoping that it all means that my mind will take mercy on me. I am permitting myself to be kind to myself, kissing myself through ropes and knots tied in what feels like hugs. Attempting to be present, so that I may enjoy the feeling of beautifully colored ropes caressing my body, feeling the sensuality of my existence, being reminded that my worth is so much more than what my disorder tells me.

Remembering that my pain and sorrow does not overpower my resilience and strength.
