All in all a book that was entertaining and I look forward to the next in the series. Feb 07, Vera Godley rated it really liked it. While traveling as stewardesses, Stephanie, the sister of Andi the book's leading lady is murdered and for this her friend and erstwhile sweetheart is convicted.
Fast forward eighteen years, another of the stewardesses is found dead of a suspected suicide but there are questions that surround the case. Andi's brother is an investigator as is their "growing up together" neighbor, Will. Trying to solve a suspected suicide or murder in current time and finding it perhaps connects to an eighteen year old case for which the man who was convicted is to be executed in a few days time, proves to be a daunting task. Andi uses her professional television investigative reporter skills as does Will to pursue all clues.
An interesting read and totally surprising ending. Now there was one thing I didn't care for. The author used similarities of names to add an additional layer of perplexity to solving the mystery. Lots of names beginning with "J" and "D" and the hint that JD is a culprit. But just who is "JD"?
Apr 08, Amanda rated it it was amazing. A true page turner! I loved the suspense and the fact that the characters -- particularly the heroine -- struggle with real-world problems. Jan 30, Caitlyn Santi rated it really liked it. I have read and loved all four books in this author's Logan Point series, and I was really looking forward to her newest release. Unfortunately, I have to say that I have some mixed feelings about this book because while there lots of things I absolutely loved about it, for example: Brad's overprotectiveness of his sister Andi, which made for some totally awesome moments; the camaraderie between Andi, Brad and Will; Will himself, need I say more?
I just loved him; the mystery was very intriguing I have read and loved all four books in this author's Logan Point series, and I was really looking forward to her newest release. I just loved him; the mystery was very intriguing and kept me riveted to the page, and while I personally wasn't surprised by the identity of two of the villains I was surprised by another; the climax of this book was very fast-moving and suspenseful, I loved it and I also loved that it was totally different from any climax I think I've ever seen in a romantic suspense before.
See what I mean about mixed feelings? No book is perfect and there were these few things that bothered me, however, I really did love the rest of this book and found it hard to put down. I recommend this book and I am looking forward to the next in the series, I'm hoping the author will write a story about Brad, as well as one about David and Maggie.
I so want to how you get Maggie from the name Madeline? I was not compensated in any way for this review. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own. Jan 26, Rachael rated it liked it Shelves: christian-mys-sus-contemp. I enjoyed the unique suspense plot, with the race to save a condemned man. The suspense is much stronger than the mystery, which offers plenty clues if you keep track. It was fun to imagine flight attendants clad in 90's fashions smuggling diamonds over international borders.
Andi is a fairly typical suspense heroine--the tough non-law-enforcement girl who jumps into danger at the drop of a hat and insists she never needs help. Which she does, in so many areas of her life. But I really liked her I enjoyed the unique suspense plot, with the race to save a condemned man. But I really liked her best friend Treece, who has a good head on her shoulders, and Maggie, who I would enjoy getting to know better in future books.
I do like the struggle Andi goes through as she has to decide if the man she's hated for years for killing her sister is really guilty, or if she's wasted these years hating an innocent man. Once I started noticing all the J's, they stuck out all the more, thus one will also find Jillian, James, Jace, Josie, [A] Jerome, and [Larry] Johnson, as well as a Gerald same sound as a J, anyway , but they're less prominent.
It did make the mysterious JD harder to peg, but I'm not convinced having quite SO many similar names was the best choice, even for red herrings. Not everything was completely wrapped up, particularly regarding Andi's health. This is only the first of the series, so I'm assuming some of those things will be touched on in later books, although the author has tended to switch up main characters, so I guess we'll see.
There's a lot of potentially future main characters introduced, so it will be interesting to see who next gets their story told. Apr 21, Rebecca rated it liked it. I need your forgiveness for not telling you sooner that I have proof you didn't kill Stephanie. A message that could open, what everyone thought was an open and shut case eighteen years earlier, not to mention the traumatic effect it would impose on the victim's family and friends.
Andi Hollister and her brother Brad ar ". Andi Hollister and her brother Brad are outraged when their friend Detective Will Kincaide of the Memphis Cold Case Unit dares to insinuate that his cousin Jimmy might be innocent of their sister's murder. The man confessed at the scene, even though he later indicated it was under duress. As others who were associated with their deceased sibling, the night she was killed, rise to the surface, the evidence begins to mount up; some things about the case need to be reexamined so that justice is not delayed.
This story is filled multiple characters and intersecting story threads, which is to be expected in the first novel of a new series. Perhaps that could be distracting, or perhaps the reader will enjoy following a menagerie of trails, just as long as they all lead to the truth. Who killed Stephanie Hollister and why? Feb 01, Maureen Timerman rated it it was amazing Shelves: From the first page forward the author had me page turning, and often with my stomach in my throat, and was ready to jump at any time. Our girl Andi is one tough cookie, especially when she was born with a heart defect, and unfortunately the surgery for her was paid in blood.
There is a bit of romance here, and when the book ended I was wondering about one couple that maybe could end up together, but ah I see there is another book coming.
While we start the book thinking we know the answers right from the beginning, but more leads to more and more, and we are still looking. I for one cannot wait for the next book in this series, and it cannot come soon enough. I received this book through Revel Blogger Program, and was not required to give a positive review. Dec 20, Monica rated it really liked it. Andi is a crime reporter and her sister was murdered 18 years ago.
Will Kincade's cousin is on death row for the crime. A person connected to Andi's sister is found dead. Questions rather it is a homicide or a suicide? Could the wrong person be on death row? Is there romance in the air for Andi and Will? Dec 30, Karen rated it liked it.
Predictable story with not enough excitement to leave me wanting more. Feb 19, Jacque rated it liked it. The nearly year murder of Stephanie Hollister convicted Jimmy Shelton. However, a friend of Stephanie's, Lacey Wilson, declares that he's innocent of the murder and she has proof. But before she gets that proof to him, she's killed. This angers Stephanie's sister Andi, a TV reporter, budding documentary filmmaker and risk-taker and her protective brother Brad, also a Memphis Detective.
To them and the rest of their family, what's all the fuss about anyway?
Justice delayed is justice denied - Wikipedia
The book cover shows the answer: Diamonds. Was Stephanie involved in a diamond smuggling ring? Will authorities find Lacey's key piece of evidence in time to save Jimmy who has only days to live? Bradley paints a convoluted plot for sure and envisioning the relationships both professional and personal was worth spending some time watching develop.
Justice Delayed, Not Denied
For me and this is just me, the character's interior monologues of how the interests of their hearts make them feel made me think, okay, let's move on though I did appreciate the restraint of Bradley in her depictions of growing affection. The other more critical groan I have with Justice Delayed arrives late in the mysterious goings-on with a couple of rather convenient information exchanges. Some of the characters abuse substances that clouded their memories so maybe that's the steel construction behind the stucco.
In the end, Bradley ties up the relationships and takes the reader on a labyrinthine journey. The romance, a few of those conveniences, though in one case it comes off as a semi-surprise and a lack of a real sense of danger barring the climax couldn't reward my review of the pedestrian Justice Delayed any more than three stars.
An inefficient judiciary
Apr 08, Lisa Johnson rated it it was amazing. In Justice Delayed, we meet a spunky woman named Andi whose sister was murdered many years ago. Even with the age difference Andi was close to her sister and became a journalist due to the last words she heard her sister speak to her. In the past, four women stewardesses lived together and may have become involved in illegally smuggling rough diamonds into the States. The twist is they are related and Andi knows them as well, having grown up together in the same neighborhood.
Both Andi and her brother Brad and detective Will eventually come together to find out the truth about Stephanie even though their friendship is strained by the case. Will has issues with his birth mother and her coming once again into his life uninvited along with trying to keep Andi from further harm as she digs into stories that are dangerous.
Add to that the growing feelings Will has towards her and vice versa and the story just keeps getting better and better. I loved how well the author kept me guessing as to who committed what deed and how the various threads of different cases may come together to reveal a completed tapestry of truth.
There are familiar issues, addiction, danger, action and adventure all while on the road to uncover the truth that has been buried for over a decade. Mar 09, Kav rated it it was amazing. Breath-snatching good. Such intriguing suspense. Readers have the benefit of knowing some things before Andi and Will do which makes the reading all the more edgier, I find.
There's still plenty of clues to decipher and suspects to weed through as well and I'm proud to report that I finally after a few false starts figured out the villain Shocked me. Confounded me. A thriller of a read!!!!! The romance is subtle. A kind of un Breath-snatching good. A kind of unrequited yearning on both sides, though they don't realize it. Andi and Will have known each other since childhood. He's her brother's best friend. She was the proverbial tag-along little sister.
They were the disgruntled older kids trying to avoid her. So there's some great dynamics rooted in familiarity.
But somewhere along the way that friendly affection has turned into something deeper but neither Will or Andi are willing to take a risk. Until murder and mayhem turn their world upside down and set their priorities straight! A nail-biting page-turner. You'll want to clear your calendar for this one because you won't want to stop reading once you start. Readers also enjoyed. Christian Fiction.
