I know that she was a loyal friend, but was too OTT drama queen. I'm definitely steering clear of her book in this series. His alpha male-ness was too OTT. He claimed that Emmy was still his after abandoning her 8 years ago and not trying to reconnect since? Um, no. That's simply ridiculous. I know he made a HUGE mistake in the past, but honestly, it was a really big deal. I know he had his reason, blah blah blah, but I didn't really like him that much because of it.
I know this is a story of forgiveness and second chances and all that, but what he did was really hurtful. The angst in this almost didn't seem believable. It was resolved so quickly. Maybe I'm just a glutton for it. I've been hearing a lot about this book in a Facebook group and seeing it's currently free on Amazon I decided to give it a shot. It's a short read about Emerson and Lucas, they're a couple who had split up right before Lucas's deployment as Lucas does something he didn't quite think through. Years later he comes back with reconciliation on his mind.
Not knowing that in the time he was fighting for his country Emerson was fighting a war of her own. I liked the friendships in this book, they're a I've been hearing a lot about this book in a Facebook group and seeing it's currently free on Amazon I decided to give it a shot. I liked the friendships in this book, they're a tight bunch and truly care about one another.
Even with the tension between Emerson and Lucas. Out of all the friends I liked Savannah the most, she fierce and very protective of Emerson. But this aspect is pretty much the only thing I liked about the story. I didn't believe in Emerson and Lucas's connection and the force behind some of his actions actually send red flags up. And throughout the whole book I found Emerson too confused to make decisions of any kind regarding Lucas. I finished this book with an intense dislike for Lucas. Though the next book is about Savannah, one of my favorite characters in this book I'm hesitant to read it.
When I was given this I made sure to tell the author that she would get nothing but honesty from me. I don't give my reviews lightly. With this said Picking Up The Pieces was an amazing story of lost love found, heartache in more ways than you can imagine, laughter that can ease the tears you will have. Friends that are there for each other a bond stronger than any families. Author Jessica Prince has amazed me with this story, it was written so wonderfully, each character is engaging you feel as When I was given this I made sure to tell the author that she would get nothing but honesty from me.
Author Jessica Prince has amazed me with this story, it was written so wonderfully, each character is engaging you feel as if you are a part of it all, the friendship, the town, the angst they go through. An amazing feat for a first time author I believe. You will laugh, get angry and you will cry but this emotional rollercoaster will be so worth the ride! Jan 22, Somia rated it liked it Shelves: ku-books , contemporary-romance. An ok read on the commute to work. Luke and Emmy, bestfriends from childhood care greatly for each other, and have been each others rock for as long as they have know one another, but Luke afraid of being like his dad does something very stupid and hurtful in an attempt to forever push her away - and he does it the day after they've slept together.
He them leaves, cutting all ties. Fast forward 8 years Luke is back in town, and he wants Emmy. Only problem is he has no idea what he left her to deal An ok read on the commute to work. Only problem is he has no idea what he left her to deal with. I felt like more emotional intensity was needed, despite some of the themes in the book I didn't feel what I expected to. Also, more layers to the characters would have been nice, as they didn't ensnare my attention. Book 1 in the series, this is free on Amazon! Having started with book 4 first, and then reading this, I can say that you can get away with reading them out of order.
Accidentally I stumbled over this little nice read I was hooked in an instant. Very likable MC's and side characters as well. I couldn't put it down and read it in one day. Sure the story is nothing new, but it was nicely written. Of course there were some little flaws, but I'm not in the mood to complain, so I say it was a solid 4 stars for me and I really had a good time Hi guys I was a lucky beta reader. This book kept m griped from the word go. The story line is fantastic The characters are charming , loveable, heartwarming.
I felt myself feeling for Emmy ,laughing , crying an emotional story You don't want to miss I'm hoping there's a next book as I would love to see where this would or could go. This is more than worth a read its a book that will make you breathless but needing more Enjoy like I did Only took me hours to read as I was totally captivated. I don't know what to rate this!!

I read this in a day, was glued however I got so angry at times, I wanted to hurt Luke! I knew it would end with a HEA but towards the end I didn't want Emmy to take him back, I like to be more invested in the main male character and felt in this book I wasn't, So for those reasons this doesn't make it to 5 stars for me.
Oct 28, L. Sarcastic, snotty, bitchy, funny, sweet, sexy Dont test me! What an emotional roller coaster! Seriously read it in one day! My heart broke for Emmy. Luke's actions made me so angry. I loved their group of friends and how they protected and supported Emmy after all the devastation Luke left behind. Savannah was hysterical and I loved the sarcastic banter between her and Emmy. Beautiful love story that runs the gamut of emotions.
Go read! Pretty sure I would have murdered the douche for what he did but more power to you for the forgiveness. Loved it!! Walking dead references An amazing story to read! This is going in my Top Reads for Luke is 2 years older than Emmy. Throughout growing up, these two have always been there for each other and the very best of friends. Lucas was there for Emmy, picking her up, when her parents were killed in a car accident.
The story opens with a flashback to the past….. I melted every time I read him calling her Baby girl. Emmy is taking this news hard and I was a little confused as to her selfishness. But I did envy the relationship they had. And while I did give it some more thought, I summed it up to Emmy sort of feeling like having to deal with the loss of her right arm after always being able to see or talk to Luke anytime.. He just stared back at me, not saying a word as he ghosted his fingers across my cheek and down my neck.
I want you to go grab this book and possibly feel what I felt throughout the entire book. I enjoy knowing what they are thinking at different points in the book. And after getting through the summer of , we get to the present……Spring Eight years have gone by, some major events have occurred since that summer of Have you come around?
These two girls just click! You have a choice to make, Emmy. I love her to death. She holds nothing back. Sorry, not possible. And you know it causes me physical pain to say that, because I hate his ass. No man ever would be, but she was mine, and I was going to spend the rest of my life making her happy. I just had a feeling that outrunning sniper fire was easier than what I had to do next. Emmy was worth it. Not Lucas. I knew it was pointless to try and crack Savannah, Brett or Jeremy. Gavin was staring down at the menu like it was the most interesting thing on the planet.
That left one personthe weakest link in my group of friends. You went for the jugular on the first move! Well Picking Up the Pieces did just that! This is Jessica Prince's first book and as far as I am concerned she knocked it out of the park. Told for both lead characters POV and changing from the present to the past and back throughout the story. I love dual POV stories and I love ones that bounce back and forth between the present and past. It helps to really fill in the back story.
Let's you real 5 Amazingly Hot Stars It is not often that I come across an book that keeps me up nearly all night. Let's you really get to know the characters. Emerson Grace and Luke Allen are best friends. They have known each other for nearly their entire lives. Supporting each other through some of the hardest times. Luke comes from an abusive and broken home. Emmy's family took him in as one of their own, until at the age of thirteen Emmy's parents were killed in a car crash. They become even closer as the years pass. Just when Emmy is getting ready to move away to attend college, Luke drops a bomb on her.
He has gone and enlisted in the Marine Corps. Even though Emmy fears the worst for Luke, she supports his decision. On one of the last nights that they will spend together turns physical, Emmy gives herself to Luke. She has had feelings for him, for a long time, but has never said anything for fear of ruining their friendship. When she wakes the next morning and Luke is gone she doesn't know what to think. After trying like crazy to get a hold of him all day, she goes to him house to find him in a compromising position with a girl that she hates more than anything.
Crushed she runs home. Her world is coming down around her. When Emerson's plans for college do not work out she returns to Cloverleaf, Texas to help out in her Grandmother's restaurant, until she passes away and leaves the place to Emmy. She has resolved to start her life over and move on past all the hurt that Luke caused her. With the support of her close friends, she begins to rebuild her life. Just when life is going great, who should walk in the door of her diner, Luke! He has come home to make amends and to win the one true love of his life, Emerson.
Luke will stop at nothing to win her back. I buried my face in his neck to hide my tears. I really did think I was doing the right thing for you, Emmy. I don't care if you hate me until the day you die. I'll always be your Luke. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. The characters are amazing. Emerson is so strong, sweet and fierce. She takes no one shit and can dish it right back. Her friends, especially Savannah are amazing.
Savannah had me laughing so hard at times with her crazy banter with Luke. She is fiercely protective of Emmy and will stop at nothing to keep it that way. The rest of their friends Brett, Stacia, Jeremy, Gavin and her newest friend Trevor, who happens to be Luke's best friend create the family that she needs, lending her all the support that a family can give.
I loved Luke and his determination to right all the wrongs that he created by severing ties with all his friends. And the relationship that he starts to rebuild with his mom, who spent most of his life with a bottle stuck to her mouth, not caring what went on in her home, making Luke's life extremely miserable. Picking Up the Pieces is a bitter sweet story about love, loss, regret, determination, hope and above all forgiveness. I am so excited to read the second book in this series.
Jessica does a wonderful job creating a story that draws you in and makes you want to hang on for the entire roller coaster ride of emotions. If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. One is a paranormal trilogy as I mentioned before. The next book is more of a thriller, a woman trying to keep her marriage together while grieving for the son she loses. Her world tilts from professional to personal. The third is a contemporary romance. Elizabeth saves a child from drowning and lands right in the arms of her rather hot father. I can hold him in my mind all day long!
Bradley Cooper would play Liam. The choppy hair, to-die-for eyes, tall, lean frame and the sexy way he can wear a suit. I envisioned Clover to look like Carly Rae Jensen with her thick, brown hair, fringe that is cut just over her eyes and delicate frame. I actually had a picture of the both of them at the end of my ms I wrote Four-leaf Clover. Clover was tired. More tired than usual. Lack of sleep often did that to her, compounding the effects of a physical day.
She always liked the smell of raising bread in the morning. Made it more earthy.
It had been a nice kiss, well, a great kiss. She rolled the risen dough onto the floured surface and started kneading. Hell, it had knocked her socks off. Left fist.

Right fist. Clover blew a strand of hair from her face. She rolled the soft dough into a long sausage. The dough would make great lunch rolls. Take the rest to the shelter at finish time. She knew exactly what she wanted to do and where she wanted to be.
No diversions. Now the sausage was too thick, so she had to start again. This time less force. She picked up a broad-bladed knife and chopped the sausage into sections. The blade made a satisfactory thump on the cutting board. Clover looked up to see Holly lounging on the doorframe. Clover kept in the sound of frustration as she gathered the bits of dough and started kneading. Holly locked her arms over her chest and rested a hip on the bench. Any reason you want to particularly share? Just stood there, waiting for him to plant his mouth on hers.
And it had been so nice to let him do it to her. So nice to feel desired, wanted. Nice to give in to what she craved. Just for a moment. A nano-second of bliss. Then reality had stepped in. The nagging weight of responsibility pushed on her shoulders and she had listened, like she always did. Responded by letting him walk back out her door, angry that she had let it happen in the first instance. Buy link. Enrico hand picks six blogs to showcase every week. Welcome to the Author Spotlight, Cassandra, and congratulations on the release of your debut novel, Grave Robber for Hire. The story has a lightly humorous bent even though it also has a couple of evil characters, few horror scenes, a mystery that has to be solved and a bit of heat.
Such a vast reward would buy her her dream—a much larger animal rescue farm. But on the first touch of the handwriting of the last person to see the Rembrandt she realises the man was pure evil. Determined to get the Rembrandt and buy that farm, no matter what, she, along with her guardian angel and a private investigator she decides is too hot not to hire, faces supernatural beings who also want the Rembrandt. Grave Robber for Hire has one thread answered by the end of the book but several are left open to continue through the series.
I plan on making the Grave Robber series five books long and I plan to have number two out in August. I write in both first and third person but have to admit I find first the most fun as I can really crawl into my main characters skin. Your characters have a quirky sense of fashion.
From where do you get your fashion inspiration? When I was in my mid to late twenties I studied fashion design, so I love dressing my characters. I think it adds to their personalities. Goth one day, fifties pin up, seventies hippy chick, forties etc. Shudder shudder. Pantser that uses plotting only when I hit a block. When that happens I plot the next two or three chapters and pantz from there. Sometimes a small scene is played out and I go from there. Historical World War 2. Smith- Baby Rocket Stephanie A.
